Who Are We? We’ll Tell You!

kevinhalloweenKevin Schallert is 26 years old and working toward recovery from spinal cord injury. His enthusiasm and tremendous passion for life have made him the favorite patient in the ICU and now the rehabilitation clinic. He plays the song “We are the Champions” while learning to walk again and is an inspiration to everyone who has come in contact with him.

Here is a picture of him in his Halloween costume in 2014 as a viking!

RebTimNewYearsRebecca and Tim are 27 year old urban planners. Rebecca is Kevin’s cousin’s cousin. They have been wanting to walk across the US for a while and are finally going to do it. They are taking inspiration from Kevin and plan to push through the chafing, sunburns, hard sleeping surfaces, bugs, rattlesnakes, and lack of showers to make it to the end of the road. To contact Rebecca and Tim, email WalkUSA2015@gmail.com.  Here they are on January 1, 2015.

You are AMAZING! And inspiring! After reading your adventures, I bought myself a FitBit One. I’ll never be in your league, but I love my FitBit and the healthy changes it is bringing to my life. I push myself just a bit more every day, and have set new milestones several times already. We can’t wait to hear more about your training and The Walk! Love you!

We would love to host you for meal, laundry. showers and comfy bed if your travels bring you along Hwy 9, 77 or 36 through Kansas.

We will also show you our historic campus and the county that has the names of the Donner-Reed Party that had th wait to cross the Big Blue River and camped by the Alcove Spring on the Oregon-California Trail.

This town also has hidden history to Amelia Earhart’s family and you may get to stay in “her room” that is full of proof of her finest work in aviation, social justice, and fashion for the active woman that enjoys fun and adventures 🙂

We will share food from our organic gardens and would love to hear of your adventures or set up a Google Hangout so you can visit with friends and family or make a YouTube video so people can hear an update and donate to your cause.

        Vaya con Dios!

Rebecca and Tim: Congratulations on completing your journey. I am impressed with your tenancity to see such a difficutl goal to completion. Regarding the Butte fire: it was very destructive, burning 500 homes and structures. Fortunately Trout Hollow is safe as the fire did not make it this far, stopping about 5 miles away. I hope you write the book. If you are ever out this way, please look us up. We’d love to host you again and you can even sleep in the house if you wish!
